Physical and Occupational Therapy

Why Rehabilitative Therapy?

At Better Health, our physical therapists and occupational therapists play a key role in the success of patient care. Physical therapy and occupational therapy typically utilize physical rehabilitation, which are powerful tools for treating and even preventing injury, disease or disabilities. A physical therapist uses these hands-on, non-invasive treatments to reduce pain, improve mobility and speed up the physical rehabilitation process. It is all part of getting you back to your work, your hobbies and your life as quickly as possible.

What To Expect?

Physical TherapyThe first goal of physical therapy is to reduce pain. The physical therapist and patient work together to design a comprehensive physical therapy program that may include information on posture, suggestions for altering daily activities, and an exercise program incorporating both stretching and strengthening.

Our licensed physical therapists work closely with our physicians to create a personalized physical therapy treatment plan for each patient. Additionally, our physical therapists will accept referrals from other physicians outside of our facilities.

Physical TherapyPhysical rehabilitation is complementary to chiropractic and other treatments because it helps to maintain the gains made with these modalities.

Physical therapy and occupational therapy are often used to treat specific conditions, but they can also be used to prevent problems.

For example, a physical therapist may:
  • Help a patient reduce pain and improve mobility after an injury, disease or surgery.
  • Work with a patient to complete necessary day-to-day tasks.
  • Provide recommendations to an office on how to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Design a preventative exercise program for an athlete.
  • Better Health Assist a patient in beginning an exercise program (such as at a health club).

Other benefits of physical and occupational therapy include:
  • Increased muscle strength
  • Reduced chance of re-injury
  • Slower development of arthritis
  • Increased flexibility
  • Pain relief
  • Better overall body function
