What To Expect

What to Expect

Your First Visit

The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if  we can to help you. To find out if we can help you, we ask questions and listen. Then, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem.   X-ray and other diagnostic testing may be used to come to an accurate diagnosis.

Most cases can be diagnosed by:
  • Blood pressure, respiration and pulse
  • Posture analysis
  • Range of motion tests
  • Muscle strength tests
  • Neurological tests including reflexes and sensation
  • Orthopedic tests
  • Hands-on evaluation of affected area- skin, muscles, tendons, etc.
  • X-ray evaluation

Some cases may require:
  • MRI or Cat Scan evaluation in some cases
  • Lab Tests- blood work, urinalysis, etc.
  • Referral to a specialist- Neurologist, Rheumatologist, Surgeon, etc.

Results of your examination are usually compiled and available by the next business day. In most cases, patients will also begin some sort of therapy on the first day.

Your Second Visit

We’ll tell you what we found through the tests and examinations done at your initial new patient appointment.  After we study your health history and correlate our examination findings, we’ll make treatment recommendations customized for your particular problem. This will include a written treatment plan, tailored to you.

It will explain:
  • Your diagnosis
  • What is causing your problem
  • What is aggravating your condition
  • Therapies to be used (physical therapy modalities, traction, exercises, chiropractic, massage, etc.)
  • Frequency and length of care
  • Short-term and long-term goals

Your Regular Visits

We recognize your time is valuable. We do everything possible to run on time and minimize the impact on your busy life.   Most patients will do more than one type of therapy and/or see more than one provider per visit, so most visits will take 30-60 minutes. If you have more than one problem or a complicated case, it may take longer.  Our ten minute promise and same day promise ensure that you will not wait more than 10 minutes for your appointment and will be seen the same day.

The goal of your regular visits will be to:
  • Address key joint problems
  • Use modalities (traction, ultrasound, diathermy, massage, chiropractic, ultrasound, etc.) to improve healing and reduce or eliminate pain.
  • Demonstrate home exercises to improve muscles balance, strength, and coordination, as well as “high tech” exercise rehabilitation in-office on machines.
  • Build flexibility and strength in areas injured or in pain
  • Provide education to improve posture and motor control
