Tendonitis

What it is:

In understanding tendonitis, it is first important to know that tendons are tough pieces of tissue that connect your muscles to your bones. When healthy, tendons easily and painlessly help to make your bones move. Sometimes, due to injury, overuse or just age, the tendons become inflamed, making movements painful. This condition is called tendonitis.

Where it occurs:

Tendonitis can appear throughout the body. Tendonitis most commonly appears in the shoulder area.

The symptoms:

Patients with tendonitis may experience symptoms including:
  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Burning sensation around the joint

What are my treatment options?

The most common treatment option for tendonitis is physical rehabilitation. Talk to your doctor about the best treatment plan for your tendonitis.
