Subluxations

What it is:

A subluxation occurs when one or more vertebrae in your spine become “misaligned” or “stuck.” Some subluxations are caused by an injury. However, a subluxation can also be caused by simple, everyday activities, like sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Subluxations can have many negative impacts on your body. For example, a subluxation can:
  • Interfere with the ability of the spinal cord and nerves to deliver the brain’s messages to the body
  • Jumpstart the disc degeneration process
  • Accelerate the progression of arthritis
  • Strain muscles
  • Sprain ligaments

This is why it is so important to be checked regularly for subluxations, and receive treatment whenever a subluxation occurs.

Where it occurs:

Subluxations can appear in the:
  • Neck (cervical spine)
  • Low back (lumbar spine)
  • Middle and upper back (thoracic spine)

The Symptoms:

Patients with a subluxation may experience symptoms including:
Pain
Decreased mobility
Decreased body function
Headaches
Stiffness
Numbness

What are my treatment options?

Treatment options for a subluxation include chiropractic care, physical rehabilitation, DRS treatment and MCU therapy. Talk to your doctor about the best subluxation treatment for you.
