Sprains and Strains

What it is:

Though similar, sprains and strains are slightly different conditions. Sprains affect ligaments, which link your bones together, while strains affect muscles, which help your bones move. Strains also affect the tendons, which connect your muscles to your bones.

Sprains and strains occur when the ligaments, tendons or muscles are overstretched or torn. Sprained ligaments and strained muscles and tendons can be caused by several factors, such as lifting, falling, auto accidents or sports.
