Radiculopathy

What it is:

To understand radiculopathy, it is helpful to first understand the make-up of your spine. Did you know that if your hand hurts, it could be because of a problem in your spine? This is because the nerves that travel to your hands – and every other part of your body – begin in your spine. If there is a problem at the root of the nerve, you can sometimes feel it at the end of the nerve. This condition is called radiculopathy.

Radiculopathy can be caused by several conditions. Herniated discs, subluxations, stenosis or degenerating discs can all be a cause of radiculopathy.

Where it occurs:

Radiculopathy can appear in the:
Neck (cervical spine)
Low back (lumbar spine)
Middle and upper back (thoracic spine)

The Symptoms:

Patients with radiculopathy may experience symptoms including:
Pain
Weakness
Numbness
Electrical Sensations
